G8 Summit coming to Northern Ireland 2013
Tuesday, November 20, 2012Hi folks. A fairly recent news story that caught my attention was that David Cameron has announced today that Northern Ireland is to hold the G8 Summit. This means that the top world leaders will be in little Northern Ireland. Obviously this story causes great interest in myself as I am from Northern Ireland. As someone from Northern Ireland, this is a huge deal for us. We are just a tiny country and we are holding one of the most important and vital meetings, debating the issues that are vital to the future of our world, vital to the future of Northern Ireland. We will have the likes of Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel among the visitors to Fermanagh.
Cameron said:
"I want the world to see just what a fantastic place Northern Ireland is. I hope I won't have any trouble keeping President Obama off the golf course."Boy is he right! Lough Erne is one of the most beautiful places in Northern Ireland and the thought of top leaders such as Barack Obama visiting this region is truly amazing in my opinion. Finally Northern Ireland might get the resignation that it deserves as a country that has came on leaps and bounds..not without it's difficulties obviously. This shows the rest of the world that Northern Ireland isn't a place of violence and terrorism but a place of peace, beautiful scenery and fantastic people.
I was also glad to hear that not only will it be held in Fermangh but the leaders and their parties will also be staying in the 5 star Lough Erne Resort which has recently just been put into administration. They are hoping that this could rescue the beautiful 5 star resort and bring people back to the resort. With this said, the G8 Summit may not also bring a good reputation back to Northern Ireland but also economic wealth back to the companies that need it most.
Sorry for another more 'serious' blog but I could not help commenting on this. Its a huge thing for Northern Ireland and I hope this shows the world that Northern Ireland is becoming a settled and well established country.
